Fettle design narrative for Locke Paris

Fettle, the London and LA based interior architecture and design studio, led by Andy Goodwin and Tom Parker, has been appointed to design the interiors for Locke Paris.

Locke Paris, France. The scope of work includes the Garden and Presidential Suite.

The scope of work includes the front of house public areas including the reception, entrance terrace, cocktail bar, restaurant, atrium and co-working area, as well as the Garden and Presidential Suite.

Fettle’s brief for the project was to create a new home for Locke, with a design-led aparthotel in the city for locals and travellers alike.

Fettle drew inspiration from the history of the building itself - two beautiful French townhouses and a 19th century factory.

The entrance courtyard features original stone flooring with striped yellow banquettes, rattan chairs, green patterned parasols, festoon lighting and outdoor  lanterns, immediately creating a sophisticated yet playful setting.

The main entrance to the hotel draws the outside in with green walls and a subtle green ceiling. The natural terracotta floor is punctuated with contemporary and colourful soft furnishings and lush foliage.

In contrast, Fettle has used shades of vibrant pinks, oranges and reds within the restaurant and cocktail bar. A stand out element of the restaurant space includes two bespoke oversized chandeliers adding glamour to the design.

The Garden Suite has a chic residential, Parisian apartment aesthetic, decorated in calm shades of green with curved contemporary furniture and statement lighting.

The Presidential Suite employs a pink colour palette and features a dramatic glazed ceiling within the central living area, with an oversized chandelier creating an impactful focal point to the room.  An abundance of planting cascades from the perimeters of the ceiling while the marble dining table and worktops add to the elegance of the space.

The atrium terrace includes playful grass flooring with seating provided in a variety of lounge sofas and chairs all upholstered in colourful and patterned fabrics.  Festoon lighting within the trees creates an intimate atmosphere.

A natural and traditional palette of materials has been used which can be seen in the flooring throughout the building including stone, terracotta and timber. This contrasts with the other elements of the design including concrete columns and original factory metalwork which has been deliberately exposed.

Andy Goodwin, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Fettle comments, ‘We are delighted to be working with Locke again on this special hotel project in Paris. Our overall scheme feels impactful, confident and playful and we are looking forward to working closely with the client team in the run up to the opening.’
